The Healthy Movement Programme

Moving away from pain doesn’t have to be hard.

Small tweaks make a big difference... similar to how small hinges swing big doors.

Bringing movement to our consciousness enables us to make changes that make a difference.

It’s subtle work encompassing body-mind and movement awareness.

Once you know the relationship between you and your movement, you're over halfway there.

 Designed with you in mind

  • To help you discover how to move your body again without pain.
  • Together we explore your unique story. We piece together the missing pieces of the puzzle allowing us to find better options for you to move without pain. For the long term.
  • We find the missing link and work together to re-establish healthy movement.
  • The reason this programme works is we put you and your story at the centre. We work out what influencing your pain so you can move away from it.
  • Once we understand your triggers, we’ll design a strategy to move your forward. It’s a tailor-made plan, which we continually tweak so you can get the most out of our time together.
  • Using the latest science and technology to get YOU the results you have been waiting for.

It's science backed, tried and tested

The Difference That Makes The Difference

The thing is, the way I work is a bit different from what people are used to. Most of my client have taken the familiar route to finding a solution to their pain… treatments, medication, exercise - going to a clinic. Although this helps some people it doesn’t help everyone.

Every day I connect with people with ongoing pain. They hope to be able to move away from it. But hope alone doesn't given them the results they are looking for. They need to take action.  And the best action they can take is to start working with me. This way I can mentor them to find their healthy movement.

There is so much we can do. Movement and the mind-body connection sounds as thought it is the new go-to practice. However this has been the way I have been working for over 30 years. It is now being accepted and championed by practitioners all over the world.

My Healthy Movement Programme has helped 1000's of people move away from pain - back, hip, knee, neck shoulder (and more). I'll help you find the knowledge, tools and skills to empower you get the consistent results you desire and deserve.

It's time to stop hoping and to take action to find your healthy movement.

Finding Your Healthy Movement

Movement is crucial to health but for many it's challenging because of their ongoing pain.

So perhaps movement is not-so-healthy but it can be.

What influences your movement is unique to you... weakness, tightness, emotions, habits, pain, history and your story, sport activities and training. That is why I help You. Not the pain. Not the back or neck. Not the stiff joints or tight muscles. I help YOU as a whole person.

YOU are at the heart of The Healthy Movement Programme - an approach to transform your movement, using the mind-body connection. The latest pain, movement and wellness science fits so neatly with this holistic way of restoring healthy movement.

Don't let pain dictate your life any longer and reach out and let’s embark on your transformative journey towards a healthy, happy, and pain-free future.

  • How it is possible to move with confidence and ease even if pain has been there for years?

The key to your success is The Healthy Movement System
1) IDENTIFY the problem

Our Bodies Are Designed To Move

‘We have a brain for one reason and one reason only — and that’s to produce adaptable and complex movements’
— Daniel Wolpert (Neuroscientist)

Our health depends on movement. But technology, cars and machines now do our moving for us. We are in a busy, device driven, movement limited world. Being sedentary has become the new ‘normal’. But there is nothing normal about it.

And being sedentary often is linked with a disconnect of the mind and body. We only notice our bodies when something goes wrong.

'Exercise Is Optional,
Movement Is Essential'

The World Health Organisation defines exercise as an activity that is planned, structured, repetitive, and aims to improve or maintain one or more components of physical fitness. Exercise is subset of movement.

Movement, on the other hand, is a fundamental basic human function. Movement came before exercise. We are designed to move. As humans evolved, they had to move to live… walking, running, squatting, reaching, throwing.

Movement provides us with possibilities, be it independence, interacting with family, gardening and social activities, work, interests, exercise or amateur and elite sport.
Movement gives people the opportunity for an active live or can hinder them with pain and immobility. We need healthy movement. One without pain and which is variably and efficient. Exercise regimes can be limiting. We need healthy movement.

The main differences in Dr Sarah Mottram's unique approach are:

  • You'll gain the awareness, knowledge, and the tools to reclaim your healthy movement
  • Problems are targeted at the core rather than managing symptoms which allows the resolution of ongoing pain and stiffness
  • A holistic approach that is customised to you
  • A balanced approach between movement and exercise
  • Using the power of modern technology, proven science, and movement coaching to promote long-term wellbeing.

  • Mission: to empower people to find healthy movement so they lead their best life.
  • Passion: to transform movement, by using the best knowledge and expertise, to embrace and influence challenges to enable people to {re}engage with life.
  • Vision: to enable people to improve and maintain the health of their movement and have a lifetime of activity, performance and participation.

Our Mission At The Movement Works...

is to help men and women move away from ongoing pain and regain healthy movement. We help people move from a life of pain, fear and despair... to a life of better choices, empowerment, and confidence. Enabling them to move with ease and flow and do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Too many people with ongoing pain have tried all sorts of therapies, investigations or prescriptions. Yet despite their best efforts they often find themselves no better off.  Many are left with a one size fits all label and no real solution. Often being told they have to live with it.

But there's so much more that can be done!

We help people move away from pain naturally and holistically. We do this by giving people the knowledge, tools, and skills to find their healthy movement so they can live their life to the fullest. Support and guidance are the core of everything we do.

We believe in using simple science-backed, tried and tested strategies.  Which include proven principles and science of how we move, how we process pain and the connection between body and mind. Our processes and programmes are completely individualised to each person.

Our goal is to support and guide people back to doing what they love whether it be sport and activities, work or simply life in general.

Even if nothing has worked in the past, this refreshing approach is changing people's lives because it looks beyond and behind pain.

The Healthy Movement Programme is helping people live their best lives.

‘After 30 years of back, neck and shoulder pain, and going from one treatment to another trying to get relief, Sarah's programme not only helped me to understand what the issues were but also to overcome them to a pain free existence.

The awesome thing is, it's all over Zoom. This was what I was most sceptical about.

However, from the first appointment she got it and was there for me at every step of my journey.

All I can say is, thank you so much. The Movement Works. You have saved me.’

‘Tonight was an absolute game-changer for me. I went out with my husband and friends, and walking from the car was a breeze.

I sat comfortably, moved effortlessly, and felt completely different. Friends I hadn't seen in six months noticed the change, and so did I.

No more discomfort or anxiety about movement. Instead, I enjoyed every moment, engaging with others like never before.

It's a massive step forward. I'm incredibly grateful.

Thank you!’
